Top 10 Best Selling Cars in Pakistan 2023

The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has revealed its monthly sales data for June 2023, and the numbers paint an interesting picture of the automotive market in Pakistan. Despite facing various challenges, including restrictions on the import of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits and fluctuations in the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) against the US Dollar (USD to PKR), the automotive industry managed to sustain its sales, albeit with a slight decline of 6% compared to the previous month.

It’s worth noting that the sales data provided by PAMA only includes member companies, and non-PAMA members such as Changan, Morris Garages (MG), United Motors, etc., do not disclose their sales figures. Hence, this analysis focuses solely on the top 10 best-selling vehicles in Pakistan based on the data provided by PAMA.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the best-selling cars in Pakistan for June 2023:

1: Suzuki Alto

The Suzuki Alto continues to maintain its position as the best-selling car in Pakistan. It is a well-liked option in the entry-level market segment due to its accessibility and dependability. In June 2023, Suzuki Alto sold 2,372 units, a 3% increase over the previous month (May), when it sold 2,293 units. The price range for Suzuki Alto in Pakistan starts from PKR 1,699,000 for the entry-level VX variant, going up to PKR 2,223,000 for the AGS (Automatic Gear Shift) variant.

2: Toyota Corolla & Yaris

In June, they sold 1,780 units. However, there was a sizable decrease of 39% from May. Their sales were impacted by variables like non-production days and price increases. The Toyota Corolla costs between PKR 4,569,000 and PKR 5,749,000 in Pakistan, whereas the Toyota Yaris is priced between PKR 3,539,000 and PKR 4,259,000.

3: Suzuki Swift

Suzuki Swift secured the third position on the list, experiencing a remarkable increase in sales. The company sold 1,263 units of the Swift in June 2023, witnessing a significant 137% growth compared to May 2023 when it sold 532 units. The price range for Suzuki Swift in Pakistan starts from PKR 3,180,000, going up to PKR 3,760,000. Additionally, Suzuki also introduced a limited edition variant of the Swift GL CVT, priced at PKR 3,450,000.

4: Honda Civic & City

They sold a combined total of 1,201 units in June, facing a decline of 16% compared to May. Inflation and increased prices affected their sales. The price range for Honda City starts from PKR 3,769,000 and goes up to PKR 4,479,000, while the Honda Civic ranges from PKR 6,349,000 to PKR 7,549,000.

5: Toyota Fortuner & Hilux

Toyota’s Fortuner and Hilux secured the fifth spot with 837 units ended in June, but that is a 14 drop compared to May. The Fortuner’s cost begins at PKR and goes up to PKR, whereas the Hilux ranges from PKR to PKR.

6: Suzuki Wagon R

Suzuki Wagon R secured its place on the list by selling 766 units in June 2023, experiencing a substantial increase of 110% compared to May 2023 when it sold 365 units. The price range for Suzuki Wagon R starts from PKR 2,421,000 for the VXR variant and goes up to PKR 2,754,000 for the Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) variant.

7: Suzuki Cultus

Suzuki Cultus witnessed a notable increase in sales, selling 751 units in June 2023 compared to 411 units in May 2023, representing an 83% growth. The price range for the Suzuki Cultus in Pakistan starts from PKR 2,754,000 and goes up to PKR 3,234,000 for its top variant.

8: Suzuki Bolan (Crry Daba)

Suzuki Bolan sold 609 units in June 2023, which is a notable rise of 168% from the 227 units it sold the month before. The Suzuki Bolan’s starting price in Pakistan is PKR 1,500,000 for the base model and PKR 1,487,000 for the top-of-the-line model.

9: Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai Elantra slightly made it onto the list with deals of 320 units in June 2023, representing a 45 drop compared to May 2023 when it ended with 581 units. The price of the Hyundai Elantra in Pakistan is PKR for the 1.5 L variant, while the 2.0 L variant costs PKR.

10: Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai Tucson secured the tenth spot on the list, although it witnessed a sharp decline in sales. Only 275 units of the Hyundai Tucson were sold in June 2023 compared to 985 units in May 2023. The price of the Hyundai Tucson in Pakistan ranges from PKR 6,899,000 for the GLS Sport (FWD) variant to PKR 7,399,000 for the Ultimate (AWD) variant.

It is noteworthy that, apart from Suzuki, most companies experienced a decline in sales during June 2023. Toyota Indus recorded the lowest sales figures, witnessing a 32% decline, followed by Honda Atlas with a 29% decline. Hyundai Nishat faced the most significant drop in sales, experiencing a 50% decline. In contrast, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) stood out as the only company that witnessed a substantial increase of 58% in sales, further consolidating its dominance in the market.

Despite the challenges faced by the automotive industry in Pakistan, the best-selling cars for June 2023 reflect the preferences and affordability of the consumers. Suzuki, with its range of hatchbacks, continues to dominate the market, while other manufacturers strive to adapt and meet the demands of the evolving market conditions.
