Government Reduces Prices of Ghee and Cooking Oil to Provide Relief to Public

In a welcome move, the government has announced a decrease in the prices of branded ghee and cooking oil sold at utility stores. The reduction will range from Rs37 to Rs60 per kilogram of ghee and oil. People who have been battling with high inflation and rising prices will be relieved by this decision.

This announcement’s release time falls on the third day in a row that the US dollar’s value has fallen in the interbank and open market. As the exchange rate improves, the government aims to pass on the benefits to consumers by lowering the prices of essential items like ghee and cooking oil.

The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) wasted no time in implementing this decision and issued a notification to inform the public about the reduced prices. The price of branded ghee has been reduced by Rs37, now available at Rs59 per litre.

While Finance Minister Ishaq Dar urges patience and assures that Pakistan’s economy will recover in the near future, people appreciate the relief provided by the government, even if it may not be a substantial one. Citizens, like Amir, a senior citizen, express their gratitude, saying, “Though it may not be a big relief, something is better than nothing.”

Another shopper, a woman, expresses the hope that if the value of the dollar continues to fall, so will the cost of staple foods over time.

Such actions are anticipated to reduce the cost of living as the government proves its dedication to addressing citizens’ concerns. The public eagerly awaits further initiatives aimed at curbing inflation and making essential commodities more affordable for everyone.
