Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Retention

  • Engaging the public and promoting the organization’s brand and careers in an extroverted, positive manner while representing the company at job fairs
  • Complete the employment process, including posting jobs, conducting interviews, obtaining references, and hiring
  • Proactively enhancing the business’s hiring and retention strategy
  • Examine and carry out surveys and retention programs to reduce employee attrition across the board.
  • Recognize the immigration regulations and how our industry can help employers keep workers with valid work permits.

Performance Management

  • Manage performance and absenteeism by running the company’s hotline.
  • Oversee the team’s internal education program, which helps it grow and flourish.
  • Throughout the year, compile and present performance reviews and check-ins (performance reviews are completed on our employment sites).
  • To guarantee a seamless onboarding process and performance management of new hires during their probationary period, review and monitor daily personnel reports, skill development, and training.
  • Make sure workers are properly managed and achieving the required results.

Culture and Events

  • Participate in and oversee business events, as this is an essential aspect of Para Space culture.
  • Set up team giveaways for the company every two months.
  • Oversee the weekly condolences, birthdays, life milestones, and tenure recognition programs.
  • Oversee employee competitions, the content of our Friday email “Para Verse,” polls, and other initiatives that directly affect culture.

Labour Relations

  • Ensures uniformity in the interpretation and implementation of the collective agreement by offering daily counsel and direction.
  • Engages in the process of collective bargaining by contributing ideas for negotiating strategies and researching labor relations-related topics such as historical practices, pertinent laws, workplace issues, grievance-related trends, and case histories. Additionally, it creates wording for collective agreements, analyzes proposals and their associated costs and benefits, and prepares other materials for negotiations.
  • Represents management in arbitrations that are accelerated, labor and classification grievances, appeals, and other dispute resolution procedures.
  • Builds and maintains connections with union officials and leaders and takes part in discussions to find solutions to common labor relations problems.
  • Grievance handling entails planning answers, monitoring developments, and participating in meetings.

General

  • As needed, you might take on additional sporadic jobs or projects.
  • Formulating and updating policies
  • Involvement in creating material for our social media and website
  • Enhancing our renowned culture
  • Handle the HRIS system.
  • Collaborate with all colleagues to cultivate a positive working environment.
  • As assigned and related to these initiatives, you would be in charge of finishing reports and other documentation.
  • There would be weekly meetings with your manager and weekly work lists and schedules that you would need to execute.

Qualifications

  • A suitable post-secondary degree, such as a BCOM or BBA with a specialization in labor relations or human resource management
  • More than five years of HR experience
  • With a background in labor relations and responsibilities for managing grievances, interpreting collective agreements, and handling progressive discipline issues
  • Expertise in collective bargaining as the second chair during more than one (1) negotiation cycle
  • Solid knowledge of the labor and employment laws in British Columbia
  • Broad understanding of employment immigration; proficient use of Google Drive, Microsoft Office, and HRIS (BambooHR)

Compensation and Benefits
