UAE petrol prices increased in May after dropping in April and increasing in March again. Now analysts expect the petrol and diesel prices to surprise the public in early June.

Prices skyrocketed in May due to a sudden and surprising cut in output by oil-producing countries in April. The sudden cut in output also caused oil price fluctuations all across the globe.

OPEC+ the main oil-producing giant is destined to hold a meeting on June 4th and experts expect a surprising decision from the main suppliers. Experts are expecting them to announce output cuts in oil supply from oil-producing countries similar to the ones in April which caused the oil prices to increase.

Due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict prices reached an all-time high of Dh4.63 per litre last July.

Despite the local petrol prices in May hitting the highest this year, they are still relatively cheaper than other countries.

As of May 31, the fuel price in the UAE stands at Dh3.16 per litre, significantly lower than the global average of Dh4.71 per litre.
