Saudi Arabia Sets the Date for the Eid ul Adha Celebration on June 28

In a momentous announcement, Saudi Arabia has confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon for Zil Hajj, marking the beginning of this auspicious month. As per the Islamic calendar, today (Monday) will be the first day of Zil Hajj.

Hold onto your headdresses, as the holiest day in Islam, the Day of Arafah, is just around the corner, listed to take place on Tuesday, June 27. And that is not all! Brace yourselves for the grand festivity of Eid ul Adha on Wednesday, June 28, throughout the area.

Traditionally, countries like the UAE and other Gulf nations observe Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Azha on the same days as Saudi Arabia.

Shifting our focus to Pakistan, the Met Office has shared an exciting update. The birth of the moon is expected on June 18 at 9:37 pm, with the possibility of sighting it today. This suggests that the first day of Zil-Hajj will likely be observed on June 20 (Tuesday), and Eid ul Azha will be joyously celebrated on June 29 (Thursday).

Today (Monday), the esteemed Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene at the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi for a crucial meeting. The honorable Chairman, Moulana Abdul Khabir Azad, will preside over this significant gathering.

Let’s not forget the zonal/district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees, which will also hold meetings at their respective headquarters on the same date and time.

As customary, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets on the 29th of every Islamic month and makes the eagerly anticipated announcement following the sighting of the moon.
